Types of Computer Virus

Viruses are designed for various intents. It might corrupt or destroy data on your computer, use an email program to spread itself to other computers on your network or may even affect the boot sector. Broadly, computer viruses can be divided into two categories;
Compiled Viruses: It is that kind of a virus whose code is converted by the compiler into a format which can be directly executed by an operating system.

Interpreted Viruses: These are the more prevalent type of virus. Interpreted virus is composed of program or code which can be executed only by a particular application or service. These are comparatively easy to generate.

Malware vs. Virus :

Malware and virus both are different terms. Malware is a general term, which means malicious software, i.e. anything that damages your computer. Malware includes  Viruses, Trojan horses, Spyware, Scareware etc.

Spyware : Spyware is software that is installed on the computer and sends this information to the software builder. It steals personal information.

Scareware : Scareware is malicious software that tricks computer users into visiting malware-infested websites. Also known as deception software,rogue scanner software or fraudware, scareware may come in the form of pop-ups. These appear as legitimate warnings from antivirus software companies, and they claim your computer's files have been infected. They are so cleverly done that users are frightened into paying a fee to quickly purchase software that will fix the so-called problem. What they end up downloading, however, is fake antivirus software that is actually malware intended to steal the victim's personal data.

Trojan horse : Trojan horse is a virus that's disguised as a legitimate or harmless program that sometimes carries within itself i.e. to allow the programs creator to secretly access the users system.
